David Hockney - Original Prints
David Hockney is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. A painter, draftsman, printmaker, photographer, and stage designer, his work is characterised by economy of technique, a preoccupation with light, and a frank, mundane realism derived from Pop art and photography.
This exhibition of original prints brings together work from his Grimm’s fairytales suite of etchings, the Cavafy suite and some original posters.
These prints bear all the characteristic qualities of David Hockney’s art – a strong interest in storytelling and the interaction of human emotions, the fascination of conveying the supernatural and the psychological in visual terms, and the delight in exploring new ranges of technique with which to set down his perceptions
